Letter from the Superintendent
As Acting Superintendent, I have one goal: to give each and every one of the students in the district a quality education that will prepare them for a productive life beyond high school, either in college, the work force, or both. My vision is to improve instruction in the core areas of reading, writing, and mathematics. I want to provide the kind of leadership that will make our students excited about coming to school, passionate about learning, and serious about becoming critical thinkers.
To do so means first being open and upfront about where our students are as a whole. Our test scores are not where they need to be, especially in the areas of reading and mathematics. To raise the test scores will take a serious commitment of our teaching staff and administration as well as an increase in parental involvement. It is my vision and intention to lead the school district in this direction.
My ultimate goal is this: I want our students to have a quality education that will inspire them to come back to live and work for the betterment of the communities of Chicago Heights, Ford Heights, Glenwood, Lynwood, Sauk Village, South Chicago Heights, and Steger. This goal will ultimately improve the communities and the schools in many positive ways.
