BLOOM TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT UNION

The Bloom Township High School Credit Union was founded in 1954 by two teachers at Bloom High School as a way for “teachers to help teachers.”  Since that time, the Credit Union has grown to close to 600 members with assets of approximately $2.75 million.  Any full-time employee of Bloom, Bloom Trail and Prairie State College is eligible to apply for membership.  All applications received will undergo a routine financial check.  The federal government insures each account for $100,000.

Members may contribute to their savings by personal check and/or by participating in monthly payroll withholding.  Members may make six, free withdrawals from their account anytime during the year (additional withdrawals are assessed a $6.00 fee).

Members are paid dividends twice a year.  This is done on May 1st and November 1st.  We closely monitor the interest rates of various savings institutions and attempt to match or exceed those rates.  Dividend rates are based on a tier system.  The tiers are as follows:

From Amount   To Amount
0.00  1,999.99
2,000.00 4,999.99
5,000.00 9,999.99
10,000.00  14,999.99
15,000.00 19,999.99
20,000.00 24,999.99
25,000.00 Maximum

Any Credit Union member may borrow up to $5,000 on their signature alone.  Collateral is required on all loans above $5,000.  The maximum allowable loan is $30,000. Every loan under $30,000 is insured by the credit union for members less than 70 years of age.  This insured amount will be paid-in-full upon your death.

The office of the Credit Union is located at Bloom Trail High School in Room 236.  Our office hours are from 6:30 a.m. until approximately 11:00 a.m.   However, any business that you have or questions that you may need answered, can be dealt with by the building representative listed below:
